What to Confirm Before Selecting a Distribution Transformer
A useful quotation starts with a clear technical brief. These five inputs help suppliers compare the same requirement and reduce avoidable clarification later.

1. Rated capacity and load profile
State the required kVA and explain whether the load is stable, intermittent or expected to grow. Large motors, harmonic loads and short-term overload conditions should be identified early.
2. Primary and secondary voltage
Confirm the system voltage, frequency, phase and required tapping range. Also note the connection arrangement when it is already defined by the project.
3. Installation environment
Indoor or outdoor installation, altitude, ambient temperature, humidity and pollution level can affect enclosure, insulation and cooling decisions.
4. Transformer type and cooling
Clarify whether the project requires dry-type or oil-immersed equipment and whether natural or forced cooling is expected.
5. Drawings and documentation
Provide the available single-line diagram, outline dimensions, terminal arrangement and required inspection or export documents. Even an early drawing can prevent mismatched assumptions.
